How this practice market works
Completely isolated fake money. Each signed-in account can open one stock portfolio with 100,000 practice credits. These are not game credits, AI credits, dollars, or a redeemable asset. This page never submits orders to a brokerage.
Only observed data. Alpaca Broker Sandbox provides IEX single-venue observations, not the consolidated US market. A last-trade price can differ from the bid/ask. There are no synthetic ticks, interpolated charts, or fabricated fallback prices.
Fills have rules. Whole-share quantities from 1 to 10,000 only. A new simulated fill requires the regular US market session to be open, a quote at most 60 seconds old, and a bid/ask spread no wider than 1%. Unavailable or stale feeds block new trades. The server checks weekday regular US trading hours and fresh quotes; it does not model the complete exchange holiday or early-close calendar. Holdings remain viewable while the market is closed.
Limited model. No fees, margin, short selling, or resting orders. Dividends, stock splits, and other corporate actions are not modeled. Portfolio equity uses available last-trade observations and may be stale or unavailable; it is not an executable price.
Manual decisions only. Automatic quote refresh runs no more than once every 30 seconds while this page is visible. You can also refresh manually. Refreshing never trades. Every simulation requires review and confirmation. If a connection fails after confirmation, retry only the same frozen order until its outcome is known.
